Black Friday – madness, death, and a happy turn of events.

Black Friday has now come and gone. Thank God that’s over with. It was something I was dreading greatly. For the entire last month I have counted down the minutes until I had to work that day. Retail is it’s own form of Hell after all.

Two weeks ago I found out I was to have a Hellish shift, from 10:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Getting stuck there with millions of screaming customers and both my District & General managers did not sound like fun. Then a miracle happened.

My co-worker accidently showed up at 7:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 p.m. like she was scheduled. So she was stuck working from then till 5:00 p.m. when I would have left. This got me the 7:00 p.m. till 11:00 p.m. shift. I got to avoid ringing people out, my managers, and helping too many people out. The day I was really didn’t want to come wasn’t so bad after all… for me at least.

A Walmart employee was trampled to death by the mindless drones of society as the masses of them poured through the opening doors and crushed a man. I honestly believe that these people should be identified through the security cameras and each charged with manslaughter. Forgiving, am I not?

I don’t understand how not one person could stop and help this man up. It is a truly vicious society we live in. Thanksgiving is no longer a day just of giving thanks, it is also a day of sharpening ones own talons for the next day. Quickly we forget that anyone is thankful for anything and we turn into vile and selfish creatures once more. I am ashamed to be a part of this sort of society.

Today however is a different kind of sale day. A day that is safer. A day that is less stressful. Today is Cyber Monday. The online equivalent to Black Friday. Let’s just hope next year the Internet draws even more sales away from in store businesses so there are no fatalities on Black Friday.

If ever I thought that one person was capable of trampling another human being to death, it was you.
